The Washington Examiner reports:
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis asked the judge presiding over the sprawling racketeering indictment against former President Donald Trump to expedite the trial for “all 19 defendants” to Oct. 23, 2023.
Willis’s Tuesday request came just days after co-defendant Kenneth Chesebro made demands for a speedy trial, prompting Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee to sever his case from the other 18 defendants and set Chesebro’s trial for the end of October.
Willis argued that any attempts to be tried separately are “improper at this juncture” and requested that Chesebro and other defendants who have filed for a speedy trial should have a trial scheduled on the Oct. 23 date.
